SCHOLARSHIPS
Fifty years ago, Ben Wiley had a vision that all Black students might have the opportunity to attend college. His personal connection with aspiring young people has grown to a highly sought after scholarship opportunity. For BIPOC students living in Erie County, the GEEDC Educational Scholarships fund in concert with the We Believe in Erie fund awards more than $100,000 per year to help students meet their opportunity.
Scholarships are open to:
- Freshman: Up to $1,750/semester (3,500 a year)
- Sophomore: Up to $2,500 semester ($5,000 a year)
- Junior: Up to $3,750 semester ($7,500 a year)
- Senior: Up to $5,000 semester ($10,000 a year)
The “We Believe in Erie” Scholarship offers funding for post-secondary education, pre-apprenticeship training, and paid internships. You can pursue an education in a variety of fields including the banking industry, food services, health services, the insurance industry, as well as trades like plumbing, construction, HVAC, and welding.
The GEEDC Education Scholarship can help you gain the necessary skills and education to succeed. Funds are available to help cover the costs of your post-secondary education.

MARCH 15 – MAY 1
Applicants will be notified on June 30.
SEPTEMBER 1 – OCTOBER 15
Applicants will be notified on December 10.
